  • Old Wineskin Baptist Church

One day some people said to Jesus, “John the Baptist’s disciples fast and pray regularly, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees. Why are your disciples always eating and drinking?”Jesus responded, “Do wedding guests fast while celebrating with the groom? Of course not. But someday the groom will be taken away from them, and Continue reading

  • When Life’s not Fair, Remember this…

The cross wasn’t fair either. Consider these verses: “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.” 2 Corinthians 8:9. “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were Continue reading

    Finding Daily Delight in God

“Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4. One of the greatest tragedies of our lives is to let a day go by without finding delight in our relationship with God.  We have the power of the Holy Spirit within us, the intercession Continue reading

A Dog can Teach you a lot about Life

Her name is Belle.  A Christmas present to my girls in 2003, she was named after the princess from Beauty and the Beast. Yes, when you are the pet of 3 girls under 6 you get a Disney name.  After 12 years, she has become a part of the fabric of our family.  She is Continue reading

  • The Power of Conversion

As I sit across my friend each week I continue to be amazed.  For weeks I have been discipling him and each time we meet he seems more hungry for God.  His insatiable appetite for Scripture is amazing. His prayers are as powerful as a little boy asking his dad for a hug, his desire Continue reading

  • How to Encourage your Church Staff.

“I want you to know how much I have agonized for you and for the church at Laodicea, and for many other believers who have never met me personally. A Creepy Statue, The Prince of this World and His Certain Future.

By now you have likely heard the story of the creepy statue of Satan (pictured above) unveiled last week by the Satanic Temple of Detroit.  Best I can tell from research this group is not so interested in worshiping Satan as a deity, but rather gathering together for debauchery. (Which in a sense is accomplishing Continue reading

Aging white congregation in transitioning community? Yes there is hope!

I’ll be the first to admit that there are not many successful stories to share.  Most older white congregations in transitioning communities either close their doors, continually decline or relocate.  It is rare that you find an older Anglo church embrace their changing demographics and find a vibrant future. I find that churches in this Continue reading
